Donating hair for someone in need

Donating hair is a beautiful and meaningful act. Your lovely locks can be used for Toupim own-hairband for girls and women who, for example, lose their hair due to chemotherapy.

Donating your hair is a big gesture and provides girls and women with strength and confidence at a time when they really need it. Your donation of healthy, long locks changes the world for someone going through a difficult time. You donate hair to help someone else grow in their fight against cancer.

How does donating work?

Cutting Instructions

It is very important that it is cut correctly. We will send you the cutting instructions first. Read this carefully. Obviously, your hair needs to be super clean, so it needs to be washed thoroughly prior to cutting. Do not put styling products in it, and do not use perfume. Are you unsure about how to cut? Then we would like to call you (or your hairdresser) to help you (or your hairdresser).

Elastic bands

Make 10 to 20 pigtails in your hair with rubber bands. Trim the hair a few inches above the elastic. Be careful not to cut too close to the elastic. The hair must be thoroughly dry before it is sent.

Envelope and send

You will receive an email with precise instructions on how to send your hair to us.

Which hair is suitable?

If you have long, healthy hair in top condition, together we could make someone a priceless gift. Our hairbands are durable and of very high quality, this is why it is important that your hair is too. The minimum length for donation is 25 centimetres and must not have any dead ends. The longer the hair you donate, the better it is!

What hair is suitable for donation?

To make a meaningful impact with your hair donation, it is essential that your hair has a minimum length of 25 centimeters, but remember: the longer, the better! We aim to create the highest quality hairbands, so we ask that donated hair be healthy and in top condition.

Dyed hair is also welcome, giving you more flexibility in your decision to donate. However, please ensure that there are no split ends in your hair. Your beautiful locks will be transformed into durable, high-quality hairbands.

Your hair donation helps girls and women not only with their appearance but also in regaining confidence and strength.

Is my hair type important?

At Toupim, we are dedicated to creating beautiful hairbands from your donated hair. To ensure your hair donation is most effective, here is specific information about the types of hair suitable for donation:

  • Dyed hair is welcome, provided it is healthy and well-maintained. It’s important that the coloring process hasn’t damaged the hair, making it brittle or dried out.
  • Curly hair is absolutely suitable for donation. When measuring curly hair, gently stretch it to determine the actual length.
  • Straight hair is also very suitable for donation. Make sure the hair is healthy, without split ends or damage.
  • Gray hair is also very welcome at Toupim. As with other hair types, it’s important that gray hair is healthy and well-maintained.
  • Regardless of the type of hair you have, the quality and condition of the hair are most important.

How much money do you get for donating hair?

When donating hair through Toupim, you do not receive money directly, but you contribute to making high-quality hairbands for people who have lost their hair due to radiation, chemotherapy, or alopecia.

How do you measure the length of your donation hair?
1. Divide Hair into Ponytails

Start by dividing your hair into 10 – 20 ponytails, depending on the thickness and length of your hair. Make sure the ponytails are secured with elastic bands.

2. Measure Hair Length

Use a measuring tape to measure the length of each ponytail. Hold the tape at the beginning of the elastic band and measure to the tip of the hair. This gives you the exact length of your hair.

3. Check the Minimum Length of Your Hair

Compare the measured length with Toupim’s minimum length requirements for hair donation. Ensure your hair meets the required length of 25cm.

If you’re unsure whether your hair is long enough or have questions about measuring, don’t hesitate to contact us for advice. Looking for more information about this process? Check out our guide on measuring hair.

Is your hair not long enough yet?

Growing your hair to at least the minimum length requires patience and dedication. Remember that every centimeter is a valuable contribution. 25 centimeters is the minimum length and we are really happy with it. Without donor hair, we cannot continue our work. However, longer donor hair is very scarce. So if you can keep growing it longer, you’ll make even more impact.
